2022 Chevrolet Silverado Engine Features & Technology

Beyond showcasing impressive power, each engine in the 2022 Silverado lineup offers an array of features that help separate them from the competition, adding to the efficiency and capability of your pickup.

Tow/Haul Mode

Available on most trims in the Silverado lineup, Tow/Haul Mode automatically adjusts your transmission’s shift points to create less strain on the engine when towing heavy loads. It also utilizes compression braking, to alleviate stress on your breaks so that they last longer.

Powertrain Grade Braking

Also aiding in your Silverado’s braking abilities, without wearing down your brake pads, powertrain grade braking is a sophisticated system allowing your truck to maintain a steady speed when going downhill.

Cruise Grade Braking

For a smoother, more efficient driving experience, cruise grade braking will actually downshift your transmission when in cruise control to help you maintain a steady speed when going downhill, rather than speeding up due to your vehicle’s velocity.

Auto Stop/Start Technology

This smart technology allows for a more fuel efficient drive, by seamlessly turning off and then restarting your engine when you come to a complete stop. Simply depress the brake pedal at a light, and your engine will shut off to preserve fuel. When the light turns green, take your foot off the brake and your engine will restart.
