This past weekend at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, Cadillac unveiled an incredible new concept. It is called the Escala, and according to the president of Global Cadillac Johan de Nysschen, it is a signal of the brand's "return to the pinnacle of premium".
The vehicle displays a new iteration in Cadillac's design language: the Escala is larger, more elite and more expressive. The signature vertical lighting is thinner and set deeper within the fascia, it has an expansive liftback design, and the details of the exterior speak for themselves. A three-dimensional precision pattern in the grille design as well as brand new 22-inch wheels with two layers of spokes.
The interior of Escala is described as having a "dual personality". The front is focused on modern technology, while the rear of the vehicle intends to deliver relaxation. Three OLED screens are the prominent feature of this rulebreaking interior. The displays are layered in front of the driver, consolidating the traditional cluster of driving gauges with the center console.
Under the Escala's hood is a new 4.2 liter twin-turbo V-8 engine, a prototype of a new system in development for future Cadillac Models.
The Escala represents the future for Cadillac. More expressive and more expansive, it hints at what's to come from this luxury brand.
